Three Lands Point – Belgium, Germany, Netherlands
Last week I received an e-mail from long time friend and bicycling buddy that he would be in Germany flying in from WV, USA and planned on coming to visit me and Crystal for a couple of days.
Of course he arrives when the weather is bitter cold for the Netherlands with a couple of cm of snow on the ground. Making travel and sight seeing limited.
On the coldest clearest day we had opportunity to visit the “Three Lands Point” or “Drielandenpunt”. This is the geographical point that intersects Belgium, Germany and Netherlands. We had a limited (because of the cold) fun time taking pictures from one country of us in another.
The area had two large viewing towers that had great views of the three countries and several restaurants. Most of the “touristy” things – Hedge Maze, Gift Shop, Beer Garden… were closed for the season. One restaurant – De Bokkerijder, was open and a wonderful location for coffee and cakes. Just perfect after walking around and exploring the area.
The Three Lands Point will be worth a return visit (by bike) and further exploration when it is a little warmer and the plants are in bloom.
